And The Word of God says
The Making of a generational curse,
The Breaking of a generational curse
Everyone has heard one thing or another about generational curses. Many times when we see a
pattern of behavior in a family move from one generation to the next, we often relate it to the
genes, the bloodline, the family curse if you will. Behaviors such as; alcoholism, child abuse,
molestation, spousal abuse, drugs & violence. How about sickness and disease, cancer, high
blood, sugar diabetes, heart disease and the list goes on. We literally speak these curses over
our children and our childrens children. "Your mother had it and so did her mother, so you'll have
it to". Sound familiar? Or how about, every time I see him he's drunk just like his Daddy. Here's
the spoken death "he's gonna be an alcoholic just like him". Even those in the medical profession
suggest these thing are passed from generation to generation and so one would conclude, there
must be some truth.
Exodus 34:6-7 & Numbers 14:17-20
These very passages of scripture suggest that generational curses do in fact exist and that God
Himself has allowed these curses to move to the third and fourth generations. While this clearly
establishes and explains how and why we see so much darkness move through families, one
would wonder, where is the grace and mercy of God toward the generations of which these
curses have been passed. There appears to be an inability to break this vicious and often deadly
cycle and so generation after generation we see families suffer. God is a God of love. He never
wanted to see the suffering so many of us have been faced with but we've tied His hands. There
is an answer and many of us have chosen Him but still walk in bondage because of a lack of faith
or ignorance to the Word. The answer is in our Lord and Savior
JESUS CHRIST
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us(for it is written,
cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree). And the Lord will deliver me from EVERY evil
work(that means past and present) and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. For by one
offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. And you are complete in Him
who is the head of all principality and power. He gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us
from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
What does it all mean? We are no longer under the curse of past generations. When we gave our
lives over to Christ we became new. Old things passed away, all things became new. That
includes those family curses, sicknesses and diseases. Jesus paid the price for it all! His
death on the cross was enough. Receive the complete package of salvation, not just a part of
it. We can never live in the fullness of Christ until we understand the truth, the whole truth about
His Crucifixion and Resurrection. Truly to know Him and the power of His Resurrection and the
fellowship of His suffering being conformed to His death. For He made Him who knew no sin to
be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. And finally remember, if
the Son sets you free you are free indeed! Are you living life to the fullest in Jesus Christ?
